Adriana, Michaela, and Hannah were here from the Circle K again. Adriana spoke briefly to the club again about the Kick It program, and several more of our members have volunteered to sponsor a Circle K member this year. Adriana also introduced Michaela and Hannah to their Silver Bow Kiwanis sponsors.

Paul also introduced his cousins Robert and Liza from Norway who are here visiting for a couple of weeks.

Doreena reminded us that the installation dinner is coming up on October 21, and the cleanup at the Chamber has been moved to October 12 to accommodate the Chamber's schedule.

Dave Curry will be our speaker next week to talk about America's Edge.

Tim introduced Paul as our speaker, Paul was President of the Kiwanis Club in Grand Rapids, North Dakota, and has served at Kiwanis District Governor in Montana.

Paul was here to talk to us today about Reel Recovery. Reel Recovery is a service that takes men going through cancer treatment on fly fishing trips. Their theory is cancer sucks, you feel like crap, let's go fishing.

These trips allow cancer patients to connect with others going through the same things and gives them a support group and a fun activity at the same time.

Reel Recovery is funded through a number of resources from service organizations to grants and endowments, to their own fund raisers. They have put on 19 sessions in 14 states in 2011.

Paul got to be a volunteer guide at one of their sessions in Montana this past August and was assigned a buddy from Missoula. Reel Recovery encourages the participants to keep in touch and to maintain the relationships and friendships they developed while on one of these retreats.

Each session is ended with all the participants getting in a circle and putting their fists together and shouting, "Be well, Fish on!" which is the Reel Recovery motto.
