Silver Bow Kiwanis Kiwanis Club Meeting, Jul 13, '10
12:00-1:00 Tuesday, July 13, 2010Our attendees today included a new member and two visiting members of the Anaconda Kiwanis Club.
Lee introduced Dr. Reksten who spoke on her vision for the butte School District. She wants to see every student succeed.
One of the first things Dr. Reksten started on was rebuilding the music program. She is starting with feeder programs in the elementary schools to garner interest and to promote music.
In addition, Dr. Reksten is working to make Butte students college and career ready, starting by making efforts to improve the 75% graduation rate. This includes making changes to the "alternative" program to tie it into the school as a more unified education experience, whether students are on a "career" path or a "college" path.
Dr. Reksten is also developing community-tied strategic planning committees and is welcome to any input on that.
