This week we were joined by Adriana and Michaela from the Circle K at Tech.

President Lee was out today, she was in Helena speaking to the State Legislature about library funding, which hasn't increased in several years, so Cathy stood in and ran the meeting.

Cathy reminded us about the High School Speech and Debate this Friday and Saturday. A sign-up sheet went around for those of you interested in judging. If you are interested, but weren't in today, please contact Cathy.

Coach Green coached football for 40 years, coaching at 4 different colleges and two high schools, but he says he likes Tech the best. He has retired as head coach, and is now working part time in several capacities at Tech.

One change in kids that he has noticed over his 40 years coaching is that they are now more informed than they used to be. They are plugged in and definitely part of the information age, but they still have a hard time understanding years and age.

Coach Green told us about several events coming up to help out Tech and particularly the Football program.

The first is the Tech Touchdown Club Superbowl Party. That is February 3 at Metals Bank. The cost is $125 for two, and that covers dinner and drinks. In addition, there will be several drawings. First quarter is $300, second quarter is $400, third quarter is $500, fourth quarter is $600, and overall is $700. There are still opportunities for the drawing, so contact the Touchdown club to get in on the drawing or to get tickets to the party. 498-3423.

The next opportunity is Diggers Uncorked, a wine tasting event to support the Digger Foundation and the Athletic Association. This is more tan just a wine tasting, it is a great party with food, prizes, and a silent and live auction. This is February 22 at 7pm. Contact the Foundation at 496-4105 for tickets.

Then there is the 14th Annual Jackpot Bus Trip March 22-24. The bus leaves the HYPER at 9am on the 22nd to head to the Horseshoe in Jackpot, Nevada. Tickets are $250 and cover two nights hotel and bus fare. Contact the Touchdown Club at 498-3423 for tickets.

Finally, the 27th Annual Digger Auction is March 27. Contact the Foundation at 496-4105 for more information or to get tickets.

Coach Green also talked to us about the new turf for the football field. They will start the construction on May 20, and it should be completed in 90 days. The first game on the new turf is September 13.
