Today Lee welcomed our guests Michaela and Adriana from the Circle K, and then introduced our newest member, Trina, from the Comfort Inn. She also announced that on the 26th we will be meeting at Wetona's for a field trip.

Bill Foley grew up in Butte, went to college in Missoula where he worked for the campus paper, which broke much of the story on the Unibomber. He spend some time in Moscow, Idaho covering sports there before returning to Butte to report for the Standard. Last year he left the standard to become news director for KBOW and to start on the ButteSports.com project.

The web site launched August 17, 2012 and is completely paid for through advertising. All the content is free. In the six months the site has been up, they have grown to over 52,000 page views in the last month and 1,120 Twitter followers.

One major change for Bill working for ButteSports.com is that he is the reporter, the photographer, and is responsible for sending real-time updates on events via Twitter or Facebook. This does mean that he sometimes needs to get some of the statistics for the games from coaches, trainers, or other sources, rather than tracking them himself, but it has helped to maintain engagement from younger readers and followers.

In addition to reporting on Butte High, Butte Central, and Montana Tech athletic events, ButteSports.com also reports on athletes from Butte who have gone on to national leagues or become coaches elsewhere in the country. This allows locals to continue to follow those athletes they may have followed through their childhood and adolescence even though they have moved away for a time.
