Today we were joined by Matt, Laura, and David from the Circle K, as well as Cathy's guest Eddie from Summit Valley Title.

Betsy announced that United Way is looking for volunteers on October 27 at 11:30. Contact Jamie Boyer with the United Way for additional information.

We have a board meeting coming up on October 3 at 5:45pm at Metals (that's next Thursday) and our installation dinner next Friday, October 4, at the Vigilante Saddle Club.

The Board was charged, by the current president, Lee Miller to update the by-laws and the policies and procedures based on International Kiwanis guidelines and examples and current practices, of the local club. The board worked on the task for months and delivered to the membership its recommendations for review and approval.

Roger Baker, former secretary and not a current board member, wants an explicit statement in the policies and procedures document stating that the club will not provide funds for any individual member to attend Kiwanis International convention more than once.

This is not the consensus of the board. The board believes that by encouraging all members to participate in all of the conferences and conventions offered by Kiwansis is important for the club for educational reasons and to continue to develop participation and interest in Kiwanis activities. Therefore, the Board believes that we should consider sending at least one member, if there is a member interested in going, rather than sending no one. If funds are available and approved by the board, then the funds for attending international convention should be allotted to the member interested in attending or split between those attending (if more than one attending). Funds will be designated to the preferred designates as recommended in the Policies and Procedures document and upon approval of the executive board.

No motions were made to make a change.

Cathy Tutty submitted grammar and spelling changes that did not effect the meaning or purpose of the document. These changes have been incorporated.
