Today we were joined by David from the Circle K and Alex, one of their advisers.

Bill talked about our annual raffle, and was handing out tickets at the beginning and end of the meeting. This year we have three prizes, $3,000, $1,500, and $500 which can be spent at Hart's RV/Fire & Brew, ReBath Montana, Red Line Sports, Sports Connection, Miller's Boots & Shoes, Benny's Power Toys, Steele's Warehouse, and (new this year) Wal-Mart. Tickets are $100 and we are only selling 175 tickets.

Mark reminded us of the field trip to the Butte Archives on November 19 instead of our regular meeting. A signup sheet was passed around. Please let us know in advance if you plan to go up to the Butte Archives with us on the 19th so they have space set up to accommodate us - and plan to take a little longer for the meeting.

Then Jeremy introduced Courtney from Headframe Spirits. Courtney's husband worked on biodiesel stills working for a Butte based company, but when that company was bought out, the Butte office was closed leaving those who didn't want to relocate out of work. Rather than try to chase around biodiesel jobs, they decided to start a micro-distillery here in Butte. They designed their own stills based on the equipment used for processing biodiesel industrially. These stills are more efficient and allow better management of resources.

In the roughly 20 months Headframe Spirits has been in business, they have grown to 23 employees and have expanded their business from liquor production to include production of stills like theirs for other micro-distilleries in the US.

Headframe Spirits also wants to be giving back to the community. In the nearly two years they have been in business, they have donated $40,000 to local non-profits and organizations that add value to the Butte community. Currently they are working with other Uptown businesses on the Wagon of Whoopty-Doo. Each week Mainstreet Uptown Butte is having a drawing at one of the participating Uptown businesses, and on November 17, the grand prize winner will be drawn for the prizes donated by the participating businesses. A bout 20 Uptown businesses are participating - and all you need to do to register is make a purchase at a participating Uptown business!

Headframe Spirits also hosts "Drink it like you mean it" fundraisers, where a portion of all the sales for the day are donated to a local charity.
