Today Gene reminded us of the Butte Soccer Club raffle. He has tickets if anyone is interested. Tickets are $5 each.

Cathy also reminded us of the Empty Bowl fundraiser for the Butte Emergency Food Bank backpack program. Tickets are $20 each for the event March 27 at the Front Street Station.

We were joined by Keith's friends Diane from Bozeman and Souther from Billings today for our discussion on community service projects. We also had Reno, David, Michaela, and Matt from the Circle K with us.

Cathy welcomed new members Al Anderson and RuthAnne Shoppe. Al was able to join us today. Cathy also let us know that DJ is doing well and looking good, and hopes to join us next week.

We again passed around the signup sheet for the Interclub Awards Luncheon at the MidWinter conference at Fairmont next Saturday, March 29.

Cathy then got us started on our discussion of possible community service projects. She started with the park benches and cleanup at the chamber visitor's center, which had been discussed a couple weeks ago. The discussion varied from fundraising opportunities like a fun run or Cinco de Mayo event to sponsoring a station on the Butte 100 or sponsoring a Little League team to partnerships with organizations like Advantage Butte, Butte Community Celebrations, and the Boys and Girls Club.

Benches on the walking trails
Cleanup the Chamber (don't let the KOA be embarrassed to be next door to it)
Install playground equipment in a park, particularly modified equipment to increase accessability
Cleanup the walking trails
Finish repairs on the gazebo at the Chamber, perform ongoing maintenance
Sponsor a little league, little guy football, Y-ball or other youth athletics team or group
provide new equipment for a team or league for youth athletes
Work on partnership activities with the Boys and Girls Club and Sunrise Kiwanis
Set up a Fun-Run or Relay as a fundraiser
Do a Cinco de Mayo Fundraiser
Sponsor a station on the Butte 100 (water for cyclists on the mountain bike race)
Set up a "celebration of kids" with fun activities for several ages - get other organizations involved, like Advantage Butte, Circle K, the two Key Clubs, and the two Builder's Clubs to set up stations or events.
Sponsor a kid's golf tournament
Sponsor Boys' State, Girls' State, Youth Legislature, HOBE or other youth merit programs
Highlight our smoke alarm program

We need to always be looking for new service opportunities to keep up with the Kiwanis motto: "Changing the world one child and one community at a time."
