Today we were joined by Matt from the Circle K and Alysa and Seamus from the Key Club.

Keith let us know that our Holiday Raffle will be starting up soon. Tickets will be $100 again, and the prizes are again $3,000, $1,500, and $500. Only 200 tickets will be sold, so there is a 1 in 200 chance of winning the big prize. We passed around a list of the people who purchased tickets in the past from a former member, and several members put their names down for a few people they could contact about buying a ticket this year. Remember, when selling your tickets, it is important to get payment when you sell the ticket. Mark and Cathy followed up with some ideas to help new members sell some tickets: talk to people you work with or do business with about tickets and talk to them about the activities Silver Bow Kiwanis does and the programs we help with and sponsor. This year we will be including some of our rack cards with club information along with each member's tickets to help people talk about the club and Kiwanis.

Seamus and Alysa gave a report on the Key Leader camp they attended this past weekend, and thanked our club for sponsoring the camp.

This Friday we are giving out Otter Pops at the Butte Public Library Family Concert in Emma Park. Anyone who can help is encouraged to attend.

We have a Builder's Club adult leadership meeting tomorrow at noon at Perkins to discus the projects the two Builder's Clubs do through the year and where we may be able to learn from each other or work together on a larger project.

Mark auctioned off the frozen meat and cold beverages from last week's barbeque. Steak packs went to Shawn, Lee, and Cathy. Chicken went to Paul T. Burgers went to Lee. Beer went to Mark, and we decided to donate the soda to a Builder's Club project.

Cathy notified the incoming (and continuing) board that she is putting together a retreat for October 4. More details to come. We are planning our annual Installation Dinner for later in October. More information to come.

Cathy then introduced Stephanie Sorini, the marketing and membership director for the Butte Chamber of Commerce.

Stephanie passed out information bags from the Chamber with a number of valuable items in them. She discussed several of them including a Butte attractions sheet, a Southwest Montana activities brochure from the state, and a recent Chamber newsletter.

The Chamber visitors center gets over 30,000 people coming through each tourist season, and they all have access to information like this.

Stephanie also talked to us about possibly getting a Chamber membership as a non-profit. The cost currently is $125 per year, and we would be notified of events in the area, and have our event information distributed to all the Chamber members, as well as being included in the Chamber's reports to the county.

The next Chamber sponsored event is a welcome back to Montana Tech students being held tomorrow where incoming Tech students will get welcome packs from the Chamber which include information about local businesses and organizations as well as coupons from many local businesses.

The Chamber just had a color run on August 2, and is scheduling another in a few weeks. These runs generate money from entrance fees, and at least 50% of that money stays in Butte. The current funds are being applied to improvements at the Berkley Pit Viewing Stand.

The Chamber and the Convention and Visitor's Bureau are now posting all of their events to the calendars on KXLF and the Standard sponsored eventsinbutte.com web sites in an effort to better serve people interested in what's going on by consolidating that information to fewer sites.
