Silver Bow Kiwanis Kiwanis Club Meeting, Jan 11, '11
12:00-1:00 Tuesday, January 11, 2011Paul brought Jason, Tyler, and Dan from the Circle K. Paul is Jason's sponsor this year. David brought Shalene, Hannah, and Cathrine from the Butte Central Key Club, and Doreena brought Lee from CTEP. Lee is interested in joining our club. Lee reminded us of the EPA review tonight at 6 and the Holiday Inn to talk about the status of Silver Bow Creek.
Tim introduced Joslyn, who is a UM Graduate and works for the Forest Service as the Recreational Forrester for the Butte area.
Joslyn let us know that the Thompson Park area will be opening again this summer, and the trail will be completed up to the great divide trail.
However, she was mostly here to talk to us about the Stodden Park pool or water park project. The city/county wants to avoid the problems of the past both in the usability of the pool by the community, and in the construction of the pool which contributed to the old pool's costs and deterioration.
The city/county wants to make sure that the new facility is the right facility for the community. A series of four public input meetings will be held, starting tonight at 7 at the War Bonnet Inn, with the next meeting on January 25. These meetings will allow the public to comment on what kinds of features they want in the facility, how it should be paid for, and what kind of budget is reasonable.
