Today we had Nicole from the Circle K present, as well as Wayne, Todd, Debbie, Sharlet, and Tom from the Big Butte Kiwanis Club. Wayne told us about their 25th Annual Fundraising Dinner for the Mike O'Connell Children's Sunshine Camp just south of Butte. tickets are $125 per couple. Our own Jack Hanley was instrumental in getting a house donated to the Sunshine Camp a few years ago, and the house is now rented and generating income for the Sunshine Camp on an ongoing basis. Shawn reminded us all that the Bike Rodeo is coming up in just under two months, and the Anaconda Kiwanis club has donated some bicycles to us for our event, but we need someone to go pick them up and store them for a few weeks. Merle graciously volunteered. Then Keith reminded us all of the backpack stuffing this weekend. We're meeting at Butte Central High at 1 on Saturday. A sign-up sheet went around, and 6 people signed up. Doreena also reminded people that our monthly board meeting has been moved to this Thursday, so remember the change!

Then Nicole introduced Paul to talk to us today. It turns out that Paul was voted this year's Montana District Circle K Adviser of the Year. Congratulations, Paul!

Paul talked about the need to get children involved in outdoor programs, and presented a pair of short films on hunting programs for children. The first was from the Arizona Department of Game and Fish and the Navajo Nation on helping Navajo children with hunter's safety and taking them on their first hunts with adult mentors from the tribe and from Game and Fish. The second was a film on taking youth in the Midwest pheasant hunting with adult mentors. These two projects are helping to keep kids active and interested in outdoor activities and conservation.
